研究方法-量化研究
本課程具三個目的：1）介紹量化研究的當前議題和方法; 2）引導學生完成20-25頁原創性之的研究論文，包括：研究緣起與動機、文獻探討、研究方法、資料分析以及結果與討論寫作和修訂; 3）激發學生重新概念化現行的行為科學研究策略。在本課程中，我們將深入研討以下議題：科學方法;研究思考和假設;定義測量變項;研究倫理;選擇研究參與者;研究策略和效度;實驗研究策略;非實驗和準實驗策略;因素設計;相關研究;描述性研究策略;數據統計評估;撰寫APA格式的研究報告。修課學生需進行一個近五年內發表之與兒童發展或幼兒教育領域相關的期刊論文報告，以探討可能的研究興趣。學生將以小組合作形式進行一項微型研究，藉以培養與進行碩士論文相關的研究能力。此外，學生需接受期中考和期末考試。
This course has three purposes: 1) introducing history majors to current issues and methods in the quantitative research; 2) guiding students through the process of composing an original 20-25 page research paper, from definition to research to writing and revision; and 3) involving students in (re) conceptualizing the present research strategy on the behavioral sciences. In this course, we will deal with the following research issues: scientific method; research ideas and hypotheses; defining and measuring variables; ethics in research; selecting research participants; research strategies and validity; the experimental research strategy; the nonexperimental and quasi-experimental strategies; factorial designs; the correlational research study; the descriptive research strategy; statistical evaluation of data; writing an APA-Style research report. Every student is required to make a journal article presentation in the area of child development or early childhood education published in the recent five years to explore possible future research interests. Students will be engaged a mini study to their interests in small group. In addition, students need to take mid-term and final examinations.

| This course introduces the basic concepts of data analysis and statistical computing, both increasingly used in the social sciences and the humanities. The emphasis is on the practical application of quantitative reasoning, visualisation, and data analysis. The goal is to provide students pragmatic tools for assessing statistical claims and conducting their own basic statistical analyses. Topics covered include basic descriptive measures, measures of association, sampling and sample size estimation, and simple linear regression. Assignments are based on real-world data and problems in a wide range of fields in the social sciences and humanities, including public policy, psychology, sociology, education, and public administration. | |||||||
